The 2015 Vancouver International Improv Festival is just around the corner, and we are excited to share stages with some of the funniest improvisers in Vancouver, Canada and the world! Here’s where and when you can see us at #VIIF2015 from October 6 to 10 on Granville Island!
1) Tinder Surprise: Friday, October 9th at 9:30 pm at Waterfront Theatre
Let’s find love in a funny place! Tinder Surprise is action-packed improv where the audience decides which characters start our scenes. Created by Brad Rossington and John Voth, and featuring most of The Fictionals cast onstage at the Waterfront!
2) Festival Ensembles: Various Times and Venues
The Vancouver and International Ensembles are opportunities for individual improvisers to team-up and perform new and new-to-them improv forms. The Vancouver Ensemble includes our Angela Galanopoulos and Daniel Chai, and showcases top improvisers from our city performing GHOST JAIL under the direction of the talented Caitlin Howden. The International Ensembles, featuring our Jen Pielak, are groups of people who will likely never all work together again. In some cases, you’d have to travel pretty far to see any of them on their home turf. Now you can enjoy all of them, on one stage, at one time, without even leaving your seat.
3) Workshops: October 10 and 11 at Instant Shop and Carousel Theatre
VIIF is proud to present workshops in improvisation from some of the best instructors that the improv world has to offer. Jen Pielak from The Fictionals and Off Key Improv will be teaching the Musical Toolkit with Peter Abando, and will give you some major tools that will help you rock it out in musical improv scenes as well as open the doors to the many possibilities that musical improv can bring to your work
