What’s new, pussycat?! The Fictionals are honoured to help raise funds for Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association on September 14 at The Black Lab. Comedy for VOKRA also features stand-up performances by Jessica Pigeau, Nina Dosdall, Desmond Williams, and LLynn Marks. Hosted by Mycole Brown.
The show is in support of VOKRA, whose mission is to end cat overpopulation and homelessness. The association rescues, heals, then places cats – first in a network of foster homes, then in carefully matched, loving, forever homes. They are a passionate, volunteer-driven charity with extensive cat care experience. They believe that no-kill is the only responsible approach, that Trap-Neuter-Return works and that cats are AWESOME (we totally agree)!
Comedy for VOKRA starts at 8 pm, and admission is $5-10 sliding scale PWYC / no one turned away. All ages are welcome. Give and laugh generously!
The Fictionals love performing comedy for a cause, and on December 23, we’re honoured to give back at Jacques Lalonde’s Comedy Cares V at Havana Theatre. The fundraiser is part of the 2nd Annual Festival of Hope, and we’ll be performing a 25-minute improv set with special guests Jess Garcia, Lisa Quinn, Laurence Chong and Shawn Major! The night also features Divinder Purewal, Richard Glen Lett, Brodie Marples, and more incredible comedians
Each show is in support of Give Boden A Better Christmas Fund, and will be a full evening of fun! Each show starts at 8pm, and admission is by donation. Give and laugh generously!
Strike up the band and get ready for a good time! The Fictionals are honoured to be a part of East Vancouver Community Music School‘s inaugural Spring Benefit Concert on May 5 at the Unitarian Church.
The EVCMS has offered a diverse range of music lessons, classes, and community outreach opportunities since 2008, and has grown each year with new talented students and teachers. The goal of the Spring Benefit Concert is to raise money for students from low-income households to pursue a musical education.
The event will showcase the dedicated EVCMS faculty: Kathy Bjorseth, Shifra Day, Marie Calvert Haslett, Ruth Cornish, Bonnie Dodds, and Clara Shandler (a.k.a. the Sidewalk Cellist). Also on the bill are local clarinet legend Francois Houle, The Fictionals’s Impro Allegro set with Daniel Chai, Dan Dumsha, Jennifer Pielak and Brad Rossington, and The Ruffled Feathers for an evening of art, comedy, music and surprises.
Festivities start at 7 pm on Friday, May 5 at Unitarian Church (949 West 49th Ave). Tickets start at just $10 for students, seniors and artists, with sponsorship and family packs available. Come enjoy comedy and music for a cause!
