Improv X Music welcomes Shirley Gnome to Cafe Deux Soleils on July 23

Impro Allegro takes over Cafe Deux Soleils on July 23 with a mashup of comedy at music! Joining us for the fun is special guest Shirley Gnome!

Shirley Gnome is an internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning musician/cabaret performer. She has wowed audiences and critics alike with sell out shows across Canada, the US, Australia and the UK. Shirley has performed at Melbourne International Comedy Festival JFL NorthWest as part of The Lady Show, and on Dan Savage’s Savage Lovecast. She is signed with 604 Records, Canada’s largest independent music label, and her latest album “Taking It Up The Notch” went to #1 on the iTunes Comedy Charts in Canada on release day.

The evening of hi-fi hilarity also features improv games, scenes inspired by classic songs and modern hits, and your suggestions. Strike up the band and come on down!

Doors to Hot Improv Tuesdays at Cafe Deux Soleils are at 7:30 pm, show starts at 8 pm! Tickets are just $7 or $5 for students!

Pop-Up Comedy Jam kicks off a jubilant June at Cafe Deux Soleils on Tuesday, June 4! Our specal guest for The Improv & Stand-Up Mashup this week is Cassie Cao from Toronto!

Cassie Cao is a Canadian Comedy Award nominated standup comedian and improviser based in Toronto. She was a recipient of the 2018 NBC Second City Diversity Fellowship, and she is now teaching and understudying with the Second City Education Company.

Cassie performs standup across Canada with Yuk Yuk’s and has been featured on Sirius XM’s Top Comic, Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival, Toronto Sketchfest, Big City Improvfest, Camp Wavelength Festival, the Mirvish CAA Theatre, and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Her satirical writing can be seen published on CBC Comedy. Follow her on social media @thecassiecao.

Ask Me Anything: storyteller Jo Dworschak joins us at Cafe Deux Soleils on August 21

Everyone has a story to tell, and we’re excited to hear Jo Dworschak’s when the storyteller and producer joins us on August 21 for Ask Me Anything!

Jo Dworschak’s an award winning storyteller, broadcaster, comedian and writer. She’s best known for Story Story Lie, a Storytelling gameshow where comedians share devious stories, one of which are a lie and the audience gets to interrogate them. Season 3 starts September 5th at The Rio Theatre.

In addition Jo is a non-fiction writer and 2017 graduate of Simon Fraser University’s Writer’s Studio. In 2015 she was a finalist for BC’s Funniest Female and won Best Solo Show for Oh Man at the Montana Fringe Festival. She also hosts Weekly Stories at the Drive Coffee Bar and Coop Radio’s LGBTQ show Out and About in Canada.
