Anjelica Scannura joins Hocus Focus for Help Wanted on March 3

Hot Improv Tuesdays is excited to have Toronto’s Anjelica Scannura back onstage at Cafe Deux Soleils on March 3! Come on down for a comedy mashup during Hocus Focus’ Help Wanted show!

Anjelica Scannura has been doing stand-up comedy for 3 years. She has performed at the Burbank Comedy Club Festival in 2018 and 2019 and was also featured in their Best of the Fest showcase twice. She has also completed a residency at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City in March 2019.

Always proud to call Toronto home, she performs regularly at The Corner Comedy Club, The Underground Comedy Club, Absolute Comedy, and various shows at Comedy Bar. She has also emcee’s across the country, having recently completed a cross-Canada tour. She recently won the I Heart Jokes award for Best Female Newcomer, and is a 2019 Comedy Brawl finalist. Catch her on her critically-acclaimed TV show called Anjelica’s 22-minute workout on One TV.

Rio Theatre host Mad Max Aussie Bushfire Relief fundraiser on January 25

The Rio Theatre is hosting a massive Mad Max Movie Marathon on Saturday, January 25 to benefit Aussie Bushfire Relief. We’re honoured to help with comedy for a cause, and invite you to come support as well!

The Rio will be screening all four of George Miller’s post-apocalyptic classics – MAD MAX, THE ROAD WARRIOR, BEYOND THUNDERDOME and FURY ROAD. Come to one or come to all four back-to-back, on the big screen. Daniel Chai will be hosting the festivities, which include trivia, raffles, door prizes. There will also be a 50/50 draw, a costume contest, and, special guests throughout the day and evening. Plus you can win tickets to Hot Improv Tuesdays!

Doors are at 3:30 pm, with Mad Max slated to start at 4:30 pm. The Road Warrior is estimated to start at 6:30 pm. Then Beyond Thunderdome will begin around 8:30 pm. Finally, Fury Road will wrap things up starting at 10:45 pm

Knockout Punchlines Round 3 takes over Yuk Yuk’s on April 16

Let’s get ready to rumble! The Fictionals are back at Yuk Yuks Vancouver on Thursday, April 16 for ROUND 3 of the comedy competition: Knockout Punchlines! 16 comedians, 4 random teams, and one epic showcase of Vancouver Comedy starting at 8 pm.

Improv Comedians: Claire Pollock, Alan Pavlakovic, Cassie Barradas, Alex Gullason, Kia Rae, Taylor Ray, Brad Duffy, Rachel Kent, Holly Taylor, Bryan Clark, Jacki Gunn, and Jeff Cooper

The Improv and Stand-Up Showdown features the performers teaming up in new and hilarious combinations. Four stand-up comics will perform sets to inspire 12 improvisers to create scenes on the spot. The winning team – as voted on by the audience – will win the Knockout Punchlines Title Belt and the chance to come back to defend their title! Plus another edition of Innuendo Lightning Round!
